AI is the next game-changer, and it is time to introduce our kids to AI tools.

Archimedes said, “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I will move the world.”

Technology and tools have been the levers through which business leaders have moved the world.

In the 1990s, computers revolutionized the way we worked and fueled economic growth. The power of computing has brought efficiency and productivity to our lives.

In the early 2000s, the internet connected the world and opened up vast opportunities for communication, information sharing, and e-commerce. It transformed industries and even created new ones. It continues to shape how we shop, learn, and even spend our free time.

Fast forward to the last decade, when social media became the lever that connected people like never before, enabling personal networking and business growth. Even now, many small business owners go to LinkedIn to find new leads for their businesses. Likewise, Twitter (now called X)  has created many millionaire solopreneurs.

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more democratized, AI tools are set to be the next game-changer. In this episode, I want to talk about how to safely expose our kids to AI tools so they can learn to use this lever effectively.

All of these thoughts originate from my experience homeschooling my two boys.

1. Let them be drivers first, mechanics later.

Much like learning to drive, let them first learn to use AI tools. Don’t bother them at this stage with complex topics like machine learning models. Let them use tools like audiopen.ai to transcribe their notes into readable text. Or let them use Chatgpt to generate ideas for an essay, and so on.

2. Help them understand the inner workings of AI.

Once they are comfortable with using AI tools, let them learn the basic concepts behind AI systems like algorithms, supervised learning, and machine learning models. This will help them grasp the foundations of AI and its potential. They can then decide if they want to build AI tools themselves.

3. Talk to them about ethics.

As they learn about AI and how to use it, talk to them about the ethical use of AI tools. Talk about racial and other forms of bias and how AI algorithms perpetuate them. Help them understand online security and how fraud roams around the AI landscape. Cultivate the habit of thinking critically so they can become intentional users of AI. Let the next generation be good citizens of the AI world.

As a homeschooling parent, this is how I’m teaching my kids about AI. They are creating their blog posts via AI tools; they use Midjourney to create images; and they use Chatgpt to learn about World Wars.

As I believe AI is the next lever, I’m preparing my kids to use that lever to their advantage. I hope they can improve the world for themselves and move it forward in a positive direction.

I hope you enjoyed this episode. If so, can you please share the episode with others? And also send me an email with your feedback. It helps me to improve and evolve.

Thank you for reading. Have a winning/successful life.
